The Spoon Bank!

Good morning and where is my coffee and those gosh darn spoons! (They are always disappearing when I need them the most!)

It's a stiff and soar morning due to all of the festivities yesterday had in store for me (some of which I wasn't even aware of at the beginning of my day!) from watching my little friend Robbie (who gets more wonderful by the day, but is also quite energetic haha, I'm going to have to save my spoons in my spoon bank for this little one!) to my cardiologist appointment ( where don't worry I knocked over my entire Jug of Iced Coffee all over the waiting room floor...cleaning up iced coffee...minus 2 spoons!), where I was treated to an impromptu stress test ( there goes some more spoons...like I had any to spare at this point!) ... That's right, and I did not think much of this at first (how many tests has anyone with a chronic illness had done...exactly!) until I walked into a room with a treadmill.. Now I love to stay in shape, exercise and eat healthy, but if we're being honest, I have not stepped foot on a treadmill in over a year...so I knew this was going to be quite an experience... and quite an experience it was... my heart is in good shape, but I seem to have an arrhythmia, and I guess luckily for me it can be treated with some meds (shocker... more medication!) and they are not sure what it is being caused by (hello!! welcome to Lupus) but are doing some further investigating. And of course, no doctor's visit (any doctor if your CHRONICLYsILLy) would be complete without a trip (that's right you guessed it!) to the pharmacy! (say bye bye to any and all remaining spoons for today and some of tomorrow's too, my spoon bank is now in debt, I owe myself spoons (I'll write an I.O.U. don't worry!) ...But enough about that... lets get to some of what we all need more of in our lives, and thats laughter! You can never have enough laughter in your life, and my Cardiologist and I were discussing this yesterday, he said in India, they actually hold laughing groups or seminars where people gather at a designated time and place and just laugh... That's it..a session of laughter...I loved this idea (although it does seem a tad bit crazy, but who am I to judge!) and then, as I thought about it a bit more, I realized CHRONICLYsILLy is just another form of these laughing sessions, we all come here to get a good laugh and to lift our spirits a bit, and start our mornings on a happy, positive note... and that is exactly what we will do!

I hope you all have spoon banks too where you have saved countless spoons so that when your in need of a few, they are readily available to you...if not, you might be in debt like me and owe yourself spoons (make sure you write those I.O.Us, the brain fog will surely cause you to forget and then who knows if you'll ever get around to replacing them!) And now it's time I leave you as I need to get my spoons (from where, I'm not sure yet!) and get over to Robbie's house! But of course, in CHRONICLYsILLy fashion I would never leave you without our Page of Hope, Nothing is Kimpossible, where you can stop by, sign the guest book, and make a contribution to the LFA (and for the Butterfly Gala in NYC!! that I am currently fundraising for as a member of the Jr. Fundraising Committee!) and of course our daily Jolt-of-Java!

Jolt-of-Java: "A healthy attitude is contagious but don't wait to catch it from others. Be a carrier! Because before you can inspire with emotion, you must first be swamped with it yourself... and before you can move their tears, your own must flow...To convince them, you yourself must believe" - an adaption from Winston Churchhill
