I spent this morning at the Rheumys due to some high (and by high I mean 160/100) blood pressure and a rapid heart rate (120 plus) that were present in the E.R. Saturday night. Luckily, my entourage of Docs have teamed up with Captain Cure and Super Steroid, and are utilizing their secret weapon (so secret it has to be whispered when spoken by name) Cellcept... With an increased dose of (shhhh) Cellcept zapping Lady Lord Lupus along with the BURST of steroids she has been hit with, the docs are hopeful they can knock Lady Lord Lupus on her ass once and for all!

So while we are all staying tuned and anxiously awaiting (including myself, hell, it's my body!) to see what happens in this seemingly never-ending tumultuous battle, I'm going to leave the fighting up to Captain Cure and Super Steroid....Because we've got bigger and better things to move on too... As it is now time to introduce you all to Wheel of Fortune-Lupie Week! (applause!) They've had pet week, they've had Dads & Grads week, but, for the first time ever, making Wheel of Fortune History, I'm proud to present you with, Wheel of Fortune-Lupie Week! (For all of you who don't already know, I am a HUGE Wheel of Fortune fan, and yes I know, me and all the 80-something year old Grandparents out there, but nonetheless I love it and not to toot my own horn, but I dominate.. end of story!)
However, In order to hold a Lupie Week, there are a few alterations/accommodations that need to be made. We'll start with the set. Usually the set for Wheel of Fortune is Beaming with Bright Fluorescent lights coming at you from every angle... Well this will not do for Lupie Week. The set for Lupie Week will need dim lighting (as many of us are photosensitive, and no this does not stop with avoiding just the sun, fluorescent lights are a trigger for many of us as well) Think, Bat Cave but less rocky and gloomy (and no Bat Mobile... I know Im bummed too) and more game-showy! They will also need to adjust the temperature, but to what, I'm not sure. Sometimes we are cold, and need sweatshirts, long sleeves and gloves (to stop us from having a Reynauds attack) but some of us run hot, hot, hot! These Lupies will need t-shirts and short sleeves, and probably shorts (any lupies who are brave enough to wear shorts, God bless you, my legs are hideous and battered from the side effects of Lupus and my drugs, But power to you if you can rock them!) This will also provide a challenge to the wardrobe staff...A Lupie needs to be prepared and equip for anything, as our bodies can change in an instant, this may mean we start the show off in a lovely long sleeve shirt and a cardigan, but by the first commercial break, we will be sweating profusely and need to change (I'll leave it at this, Good Luck wardrobe!). And speaking of commercial breaks, there will need to be at least a few, for pill popping (obviously), outfit changes, and perhaps to add some chairs for the contestant (Because I certainly am not standing for the filming of an entire show of Wheel of Fortune! Not happening with the way my joints feel most days, I'm sure many of you would tend to agree!)
Now, that it is time to play WHEEL OF FORTUNE! LUPIE WEEK! (cue applause!) I'd like to introduce you to our Prize Puzzles! Lastly, before we part ways with our daily Jolt-of-Java, I'd like to give a tribute to a fellow lupie. Yesterday afternoon, the world lost an incredible soul, as our dear friend, and Lupus sister, Stephanie, lost her fight against Lupus. She was a truly beautiful person inside and out, and her contributions and everything she has done for all of us (Including April & Linsey, and especially those that were in the Living with Lupus, Lupie Chix, and Life with Lupus Support Groups). She was a strong woman, who, despite her own hardships, was always there for her Lupus Sisters in their time of need. Please take a moment of silence in her honor... and to all of my beautiful Lupies, remember Stephanie for the amazing person she was, and celebrate her life and all the she had accomplished, do not dwell on what we cannot change, but rather honor her for the incredible person she was, and the lasting friendship she was able to offer to each and every one of us. Some bonds are too strong to be broken by any power. She is with each and everyone of us, watching over us, and guiding us, the only difference now, is that our angel finally has her wings (9/25/79-7/5/10). Keep fighting for the Cure. I'd like to leave you all now with our daily Jolt-of-Java and a bit positive energy so we can part on a good note:

ReplyDeleteThank you so much Linsey! I am glad you feel that I did her honor justice... It was so important to me that I make sure everyone who reads the blog understands what kind of person she was, and what kind of people you all are! Love you!! xoxo
