HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

It's CHRONICLYsILLy's 1st Birthday! One year ago today, I was up all night unable to sleep and started CHRONICLYsILLy on a whim. I knew what I wanted it to represent but not sure how it would work- I had never blogged before, and hadn't even really been that open with most people about my Lupus. CHRONICLYsILLy was a way for me to be open with myself about my diagnosis and help me come to terms accepting it (a work in progress each and every day!). I had never envisioned what it would become within the first year- and all the fantastic opportunities it would afford me, and most importantly, all the fantastic people have met because of it. I'd like to thank you all, who have supported me, offered me a shoulder to lean on, and who have believed in me and goals. I hope you will all grab a fork and dig into some gluten free cake with me to celebrate! In honor of today- I'd like to share my very first post (technically from 6/17/2010 because by the time I came up with a name and finished my post- it was past midnight!) :
Hi Everyone!
This is my first blog and it was started on a whim, due to not being able to fall asleep (something most chronically ill people are too familiar with!). While laying in bed I was browsing Twitter looking for new and interesting people to follow, mind you it was my first time on Twitter in probably a year, and I stumbled across Rev Run's inspirational quotes. His words were witty, humorous and wise all at the same time. I thought "wouldn't it be great if there was Twitter page/blog for people with Chronic Illnesses that tweeted/blogged little inspirational/witty even whimsical quotes and stories about life with a chronic illness. After about an hour of trying to think of a creative name, CHRONICLYsILLy was born. I plan to Tweet/post regularly, and hopefully, if all goes according to plan, offer you a pick-me-up on your not so great days to lift your spirits and a good laugh on your better ones, to make each and every day you are Chronically Ill, CHRONICLYsILLY!

  1. A year ago this same week I was in the hospital going through one of the most severe flares of my life. Luckily I was allowed to bring my laptop. I don't know how I discovered your site or possibly even twitter, but I'm glad I did. It was a bright spot for me then and continues to be one daily. I don't think I even knew at the time how new it was. I've watched it grow just as I've continued to grow and heal from that experience. Have the happiest birthday. I hope you got a big bagful of spoons! :)Keep up the good spirits.

  2. Kayo- I am first off and most importantly- so glad you are on the road to recovery and healing - im sending you lots of healing spoons still as I know its always a long an unsure road- But I wanted to let you know that I just saw your comment and it touched me. I don't know why or how things happen but it is always funny or i guess ironic to hear stories like this-two strangers dealing with things - that somehow related and connected for a bit of positivity and a light at the end of the tunnel- thank you for sharing this-it meant a lot so much to me-and I once again keeping you in my thoughts and sending spoons your way <3 xx
